We know there are many models to choose from when it comes to fitness – There are the traditional global gyms with there machines and eliptical trainers and of course those infomercials trying to promote the latest fad!.  At CrossFit Kona, we want to offer you something different.  We are a community first and foremost. We know some of you have been to traditional gyms where you go from machine to machine and than finnish with some cardio.  At CrossFit Kona we want to help you reach your goals by being effective yet also having fun , and most of all, a place where you can call home. What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is evidence based fitness that uses functional movements that are constantly varied performed at high intensity. It’s the high intensity that maximizes favorable adaptation to exercise (results). We believe that preparation for random physical challenges- i.e. unknown and unknowable- is at odds with fixed, predictable and routine regimens. Routine is the enemy! We specialize in not specializing. Survival, many sports and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average punish the specialist.

The beauty of the CrossFit program is that it’s scalable. We use the same routines for the elderly along with the professional athlete. We put these individuals through the same routines. We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the programs. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree not kind. Our surfers, paddlers, endurance athletes and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen
